Merry Christmas! I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas. If you are not, I hope this blog entry will help you feel better.

The four weeks prior to Christmas is called Advent, and each Sunday has a theme: hope, peace, joy, and love.
クリスマス直前の4週間はAdvent（降誕節）と呼ばれていて、各日曜日にはそれぞれテーマがあり、順番に「希望」、「平安」、「喜び」、「愛」となっています。

Do you have an unshakable hope, an unwavering peace, an overflowing joy, and a definitive love? If you do, great! You might not need to keep reading and I hope you share your hope, peace, joy, and love with others that need them.
あなたは揺るぎない希望、確固な平安、溢れる喜び、そして確定な愛を持っていますか？もし持っているのであればそれはとても素晴らしいことです！もしかしたら、あなたはこれ以上この記事は読まなくても良いかもしれませんし、是非あなたが持っている希望と平安と喜びを愛を、それらを必要としている人たちに分けてあげていただくよう願います。

If you don’t have them, I want you to know that they exist and you can have them too.

Regarding “hope”, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” and 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
「希望」について、聖書の中のエレミヤ記29章11節には、「『わたしはあなたがたのための計画をよく知っている。』と主は宣言される。『それはあなたを傷つけるものではなく、豊かにするものであり、希望と未来を与えるものだ。』」と書かれていて、13節には「あなたがたが心を尽くしてわたしを捜し求める時、あなたはわたしを見つけるだろう。」と書かれています。

If you are going through a hard time right now, God knows it and He has a plan to use it to prosper you in the future if you seek Him with all your heart.
もしあなたが今とても辛い人生を送っているのであれば、神様はそれを知っています。もしあなたが神様を全力で探して求めるのであれば、神様はあなたの辛い経験を活かせる素晴らしい未来も準備されています。

Regarding “peace”, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” in John 14:27.
「平安」について、イエスは、「わたしは、あなたがたに平安を残します。わたしは、あなたがたにわたしの平安を与えます。わたしがあなたがたに与えるのは、世が与えるのとは違います。あなたがたは心を騒がしててはなりません。恐れてはなりません。」と、ヨハネによる福音書14章27節で言っています。

I think many people in this world believe that things are peaceful when you have everything that you want, when you have no problems, and when everything is going good for you. However, if you think like that, then it would be very easy for your lives to be NOT peaceful as soon as you lose something, have a problem, or when something goes wrong. If you put your faith in Jesus, you can live a peaceful life no matter what happens.
この世の多くの人たちは、欲しいものを持っていて、問題が無くて、全てがうまく行っているのであれば、それが「平安（平和な人生）」だと思っていると私は思いますが、もしあなたがそのように思っているのであれば、何かを無くしたり、問題が起きたり、何かが上手くいかない時、すぐに「平安が無い（平和な人生ではない）」と思い、イライラしたり、不安になったりすると思います。しかし、もしあなたがイエスキリストを信じて（信頼して）生きるのであれば、何が起きても平安を持って人生を歩めます。

Regarding “joy”, the Bible repeatedly tells us to be “joyful” or to have “joy”. Nowhere in the Bible tells us to be “happy” or to have “happiness”. Since “joyful” is an adjetive form of “joy” and “happiness” is a noun-form of “happy” (“joy” is the basis of “joyful” and “happy” is the basis of “happiness”), let’s compare “joy” and “happy”. You can “have joy” but you can not “have happy”. You can “be happy”. Since “happy” is an adjetive, it describes the situation you’re in. If the situation is good, you would be happy, and you would be unhappy if the situation is bad. However, you can “have joy” in a good situation or in a bad situation. That is why the Bible tells us to “have joy” and Jesus also says, “no one will take away your joy” in John 16:22. Do you want to be hapyp in a situation that can be changed anytime or do you want to have joy that you can hold on to?
「喜び」に関して、聖書にはたくさん「喜びなさい」と書かれていますが、どこにも「幸せになりなさい、幸せを求めなさい」とは書かれていません。それはなぜなのでしょうか？言語的なことになりますが、「喜び」は「持つもの」であり、「幸せ」は環境を表すものだからという理由が考えられます。日本語では、「私は喜びを持っています」や「私は幸せです」とは言いますが、「私は喜びです」とは言いません（「私の存在が喜びです」と言いたい人は言うかもしれませんが・・・）。「幸せ」は「環境」を表すものなので、環境が良ければ「幸せ」になりますが、環境が悪くなるとすぐに「不幸せ」になると思います。逆に「喜び」は悪い環境でも「持つこと」ができます。聖書のヨハネによる福音書16章22節ではイエスが、「誰もあなたの喜びを取り去ることはできない」とも言っています。あなたは、すぐに悪くもなりえる環境に影響される「幸せ」を手に入れたいですか？それとも、たとえ環境が悪くなったとしても強く握りしめることが可能な「喜び」を手に入れたいですか？

Regarding “love”, the Bible repeatedly says that God loves you uncondtionally! John 3:16 says, “for God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” The only thing you need to to is “believe”! You don’t need to buy anything or do anything physically to earn His love. He made you and loves you madly! If you can’t believe it, maybe you should give it try and believe it. Maybe the proofs that He loves you are around you but you’re just not paying attention to them.
「愛」に関して、神様はあなたを無条件で愛していると聖書には何度も書かれています。ヨハネによる福音書3章16節には、「神はこの世をとても愛されたゆえに、そのひとり子を与え、彼を信じる人は滅びることがなく、永遠の命を持つ」と書かれています。あなたがしないといけないことは「信じること・受け入れること」のみです！神様に愛されるためには、何かを買ったり、何か特別なことをしないといけないということはありません。神様はあなたを創り、とても愛しています。もし信じられないのであれば、一度信じるということを試してみてはいかがでしょうか？もしかしたら神様があなたを愛しているという証拠はあなたの周りにたくさんあって、あなたがそれらに気づいていないだけかもしれません。

If you are sad or lonely on this Christmas, then I want to encourage you to seek God, who loves you very much, and tell him how you feel. I will promise you that you will find Him and He will help you with anything. The only thing you need to do is believe!
もしあなたがこのクリスマスに悲しかったり孤独を感じているのであれば、あなたを愛している神を求め、あなたの気持ちを神に伝えることを私はおすすめします。そうすれば、絶対にあなたは神の愛に気づき、神はあなたを助けてくれるでしょう（助けの手はすでに伸ばされているので、後はあなたが手を伸ばして受け取るだけです）。あなたがしないといけないことは「信じること」だけです！
